Bumbledore is the second game by the indie-developer Nimbly Games, who started their development career with Altitude.
If you've been trying to scratch your bee-pun itch this game has you covered. Bumbledore places you in the shoes of an unnamed bee apprentice of the great bee-wizard Bumbledore who has to defend various castles from the evil bee-wizard BEEzelbug. Whew.
The game is divided into individual levels with varying groups of insects to repel. Each level gives you different combinations of spells at your disposal such as lightning bolts, lightning balls, fireballs and blades of grass as well as a limit to the overall number of spells you can cast. These mechanics are all well and good and in a puzzle game the need for any sort of depth to the story is often irrelevant.
Unfortunately for PC users, the controls really bog this game down since it was clearly designed for smartphones first then ported into a PC version. On a smartphone you'd drag your finger down from the clouds to summon a lightning bolt. On the pc you have to click and drag from top to an often rather precise point on the bottom. The resolution is obviously designed for a cell phone and shows when played on your much larger computer screen. If you're able to ignore these minor annoyances on the pc, Bumbledore will entertain you for an afternoon. However, fully completing it might require more attention than you're willing to put into a smartphone game on your computer.
In short, this game is not bad but is much better suited for it's primary platform on Android and soon iOS. But that's not what's getting reviewed; so if you have been looking for another puzzle game for your phone try it out there but the PC version needs some work.
