Simply put, this is one of the most addictive games I've ever played in my life. Borderlands is a cel-shaded, FPS/RPG hybrid that basically takes the game mechanic of MMO titles (walk around, have somebody give you a quest, do it, get rewards, do the same thing) and puts in a single player or multi-player co-operative game. That it plays equally well as either a single player affair or multi-player affair is something to marvel at.

The story involved you playing as one of four characters in four classes (Soldier, Siren, Berzerker, or Hunter) who are in the land of Pandora...fuck, the story is retarded. There really isn't a story of any appreciable manner. You work for series of groups and attempt to kill another group's leader. There isn't really a core central story that is worthy of mention.

The benefit, though, is that the game is insanely fun to play. There is tons and tons of things to shoot. Tons and tons of things to blow up. And more loot than Diablo has ever considered having. While it is true that there are only seven key types of weapons, there are an absolute ton of weapons to get. You like shotguns? You have several dozen different ones. I'd actually argue it'd be a few hundred possible varieties. That there is so much loot that it is actually rather fun to try and deal with the sheer volume of items to collect.

You will, sadly, die a lot. It does cost money to come back to life and the amount is costs increases as you get stronger. So, there are some negative ramifications for death, but it's not going to ruin the game for you.

There is also a fairly robust number of enemies out there. True, there is a ton of repetition only because you fight thousands and thousands of enemies, but there is a lot of more variety in opposition than you'd think. Not many games like this have such a litany of enemies.

There are some qualms, but nothing that is impossible to deal with. The map doesn't always provide the exact location it is claiming to provide. You sometimes only get a rough idea of where what you are looking for is, but it is seldom so dramatically far away from the waypoint that it is not going to be found with a little effort.
