Let's get the story out of the way: It's a convoluted tale of the old West set in a steampunk universe. Oh, and the Civil War lasted for 40 years due to new weaponry.
It's probably the least bad part of the game.
You play the, well, pitiable Hamilton Rourke, a veteran of the Civil War who is stuck inside of a revolution caused by the profiteering of a major corporation that has gained power over the country when he helped make the Civil War take 40 years.
Now, the game is a third person shooter. I am actually fond of third person shooters, but this is so terrible. You're required to do platforming A LOT. And the platforming isn't terribly good. Clipping is a constant problem and your camera seems to hate you every inch as much as your foes. The opening of a new area does give you a nice shot of the entire area, showing you where you want to end up going, but everything looks so incredibly terrible that it's hard to fight through the tedium to complete areas.
Your allies are Yakecan and Zagato, who are as terribly written and voices as any game since the PS1 days. They seem to do little more than die frequently, which thankfully keeps their repeated irritating one liners short.
You also get to drive vehicles, which is amazing since I'm not fairly sure that they are not actually meant to be controlled. You provide suggestions --- VAGUE ones, mind you --- as to where the vehicle SHOULD go...not that the vehicle will listen to you consistently.
The visuals are really bad, which makes the frame rate ALSO being terrible baffling. If a game looks like shit, it best run silky-smooth. It's not that much to ask.
Now, I tried this game twice. Took several weeks off between playing. And I can say, with no concern of bias, that the game is absolute the worst I played this year.
