A bit like a point-and-click adventure, except every time you click on someone their head explodes.

Not a lot has changed since Sniper Elite 3. It's more of the same this time, but a bit more refined and in a different country with new (and bigger) environments. Still, there's so much satisfaction in finding that perfect sniping spot, adjusting for the wind direction and distance, timing your shot so it's masked by the sounds around you, and then watching the bullet fly elegantly in slow motion. Playing on the higher difficulties is very rewarding, it's a bit like a point-and-click adventure, except every time you click on someone their head explodes.

The same issues from the other games remain though. The AI is stupid and predictable, movement feels clunky and restrictive, and the general gameplay loop can become repetitive after a while. Once again the story isn't worth following, and the main character has such a ridiculously macho voice it's impossible to take him seriously because he pretty much sounds like a parody.

Overall I'm pleased with how it turned out and it was enjoyable and fairly addictive, as I expected it to be, but more improvements would have been nice. If they make another one I'm going to hope for some more changes if they want my money again. The sniping mechanics are very fun, but the rest of the gameplay needs to catch up with that and become a little more interesting, strategic, and varied. I don't want super realism, because that's not my thing, and it wouldn't sell anyway. I'd just like a SE game that's a bit more intelligent and sophisticated. It's a good game though that's definitely worth playing if you enjoyed any of the others.
