At first when I heard this game was going to be a third person shooter, I completely shot it down and labeled it as fail. They released two demo's about a month before the actual release date, a campaign and multiplayer demo. I tried the campaign demo (Released two weeks ahead of the multiplayer), and I was impressed by the destruction, but not completely impressed by the story and overall character of Alex Mason.
Two weeks later, I saw they released a multiplayer demo so I decided to try it out since my view of the game was already in the "not gonna buy" department anyway. My view was changed after just a couple of matches online. It had everything that I wanted for a multiplayer experience. It had a party system that was very easy to navigate, an upgrade system, multiple backpacks and weapons to use at your disposal, and the destruction element was still there. The thing I like most is that your enemy (or you) can actually die from falling buildings, thrown debris, or anything the environment has.
My mine was made up and I decided to make the purge and purchase the game. One of my friends was also going to buy it, so I at least already had a multiplayer buddy to have battle's with. Got it on launch and don't regret it at all. If you are looking for the best multiplayer game experience that has been released in A LONG time, Red Faction: Guerilla is the game for you. If my review does not change your mind, then rent it first, either way....try it out to experience Volition's piece of brilliance.
