Mad Max2015

3 out of 5 stars

For me, it was a surprise to learn that "Mad Max" is set in the same universe as "Fury Road". Another surprise is that it's better than most critics would have you think. "Just Cause" developer Avalanche Studios have made a fairly entertaining open-world action game featuring plenty to do, but not much to see. True to the movies, the game is set in the desert and while it's pretty to look at, it's not exactly a…

Star Wars Battlefront2015

3 out of 5 stars

DICE's revival of Pandemic's "Star Wars: Battlefront" is similar to their own "Battlefield" in both gameplay and structure. Perhaps the best thing about it is how it faithfully replicates the battles from the original "Star Wars" trilogy. Its top notch presentation perfectly captures the look and feel of the classic films. While the game does not feature a story mode, it does include maps and modes that can be…

Tom Clancy's The Division2016

4 out of 5 stars

"Tom Clancy's The Division" is Ubi Soft's own version of the loot shooter. This means the game lacks the reality-based feel of past Clancy titles . Or at least when it comes to the gameplay. The actual premise is somewhat believable; Manhattan becomes the "hot zone" of an outbreak due to a deadly virus spread through dollar bills. As the game begins, the player steps into the shoes of a nameless U.S. government…

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege2015

4 out of 5 stars

"Rainbow Six: Siege" may not be the best entry in the long running series, but it's a nice change of pace from the twitch shooters that dominate the market. The subtitle "Siege" is revealing since this game is all about raiding a building in order to save a hostage, disarm a bomb or neutralize threats. The PVP modes consist of five rounds each with teams alternating between defending and attacking a bomb or hostage.…

Call of Duty: Black Ops III2015

4 out of 5 stars

Black Ops III is a perfectly entertaining FPS, but it's not a masterpiece. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is solid. Surprisingly, this game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "Modern Warfare" games. Instead, it is…
