If you liked Far Cry 3, then you'll probably like this one too. Now it is set in the Himalayas, which i like more. I'm more of a "snowy mountains guy". I also like that i'm not playing as an annoying rich kid anymore. No longer i dread the moment my character speaks. I find the story to be pretty good. You'll realize that no one is truly evil/good, and thus, when you are given a choice in the game, you'll find yourself in a difficult position. The main characters are decently written, with Pagan Min, the "evil" guy, being the most interesting.
Gameplay wise, it's pretty much the same. The combat is as fun, flexible, and exciting as before. You can approach any situation in any way you like. The enemy AI is good, they rarely do stupid things like not taking cover or running straight to you (excluding the heavy types, they are meant to attack you head on). Also, they added these small helicopters called "Buzzers" that i really enjoy flying. The main reason is that you can shoot while flying. Imagine blasting enemies from above with a grenade launcher, it's so damn fun! It's easily my favorite part of the game. You can also ride an elephant now, which allows you to charge through enemies and any sort of destructable object easily. Rarely did i got the chance to do it, but it's still really fun. Both of these are great additions to the table.
The graphics are great on the PS4. I rarely encounter a texture pop-in or any other sort of graphical problems. The framerate is also really smooth most of the time.
I played it for about 25-30 hours for one playthrough on normal difficulty. I only collected 3/5 of the collectibles (there's a lot), conquered half of the outposts, and liberated most of the bell towers (this game's radio tower). Overall, i recommend this to:
- Those who wanted more of Far Cry 3
- Any fans of FPS and/or open-world games
- Those who want to be a badass one man killing machine
