When I write Fruit Ninja clone I’m pretty sure that you already have a rough idea of what Jack Lumber might entail. Your a lumberjack and there are logs to cut. The logs are thrown in the air in a similar style to the mad kitchen of a familiar chef and you swipe this way or that to cut them in half and score points. Granted it does make some attempt to differentiate itself from the standard “clone job” but its hard to imagine a world in which Jack Lumber exists and Fruit Ninja does not.
Again that doesn’t necessarily mean that Jack Lumber is a bad game. Its fun in bursts, like all good mobile games should be, and is challenging enough to force you to learn the patterns and routes to take for each subsection of the stage if you want any hope of achieving the 3 star ranking. There are additional side challenges to obtain which reward you with additional score points to spend in the in-game shop which sells a variety of items such as decorative paintings for your hutch, single-use items to help you earn the 3 star rating as well as equitable beards which make things a little more difficult but more rewarding points-wise as a result.
Note: Of the mobile and PC port the former is the better as the mouse support makes things a bit too difficult and its clear that its port an afterthought.
All things consider Jack Lumber is a decent game if your fed up of the kitchen and would rather get outdoors for a bit. Its by no means a revolutionary improvement on the Fruit Ninja style of game but its a fun enough side distraction if you enjoy that style of game.
