I'm going to start off by saying "This has got to be one of the best games this year". I know its cliche, but in my books, nothing tops this game. Fallout 3 has the richest, most intriguing storyline, comparable almost to the half life story arc. From the moment you first step out of the Vault, your plunged straight into a dark and twisted post-apocalyptic wilderness.
When i first started with the quests, i found i was overwhelmed with the things to do, the places to go and the people to speak to. Unless you've read a guide or anything, you won't really know where to start. Once i got over that though, i found there was little difference in the game play than oblivion. If you've ever played Oblivion, you'll find almost all of the game play mechanics are the same. New additions though include a revamped skills system, making it a lot easier to know what your doing, and the VATS system.
The VATS system is well balanced and you'll find yourself using it to save yourself from the awkward battles, such as when a dog hurls itself at you.
Some tips for people who get this game:
- Collect ALL prewar books you find. Later on, when you find the library, someone there will buy them off you for 100 caps each
- Get the Animal Taming perk early on as possible. It'll save you a lot of fights in the wilderness, something which put me off Farcry 2.
