Floating Point is a free game released by Tom Francis although it's less of a game and more of an interactive screensaver; which isn't an insult as it's mesmerizing colours and shapes combined with the simplistic but engaging gameplay make for an engrossing experience. The game succeeds in being engaging due to the simple but well tuned physics which involve you grappling to different shapes and swinging in circular motions, using gravity, building momentum and releasing to grapple and continue swinging to collect red rectangles for points! It's not without challenge as the buoyancy of the water below keeps you on your toes and it's easy to get your line tangled within the blocks which adds a level of skill but makes it all the more satisfying when you get into your groove.
It's only a game in that you can gain points and move to new areas so you have a goal in the simplest sense so if your in the mood for a basic, mechanically focused game to tinker around with and become transfixed then this is for you, but hey it's free so there's no reason not to try it.
