Final Fantasy VII1997

5 out of 5 stars

In the 22 years since the stateside release of the original Final Fantasy 7, our culture and society has shifted dramatically. In the late 90s, the internet had just begun finding its way into American households. Media had found that society was tired of political correctness, and in that tiresome dissonance, companies had found that shock value was marketable. From the mid to late 90s personalities like Howard…

Her Story2015

5 out of 5 stars

I have had two different experiences with Her Story. When I first played the game, I began fiddling with the search engine trying to uncover what happened to poor Simon. I did not get very far, and began to lose interest and decided to play something else. A few monthes later, I decided to boot up Her Story again. It was nagging at me that I could not understand this game at first, and I wanted to know exactly what…

Undertale2015

4 out of 5 stars

In the current climate of socially intertwined personalities , people tend to have the propensity to judge games based on the influence of agenda infused "merit". Undertale is the de facto example of deluded opinion. Dissecting the game is never easy, given that there are heavy influences of criticism with underlying motives. This will be my attempt to break down Undertale without being distracted by it's meme…

Mass Effect 32012

5 out of 5 stars

One of the biggest complaints about this game was the ending. Now, I understand that a brief cgi sequence after the final credits roll is enough reason for complaint, one thing I think that should be understood is the entire 20 something hour experience that is Mass Effect 3 is the ending. Without spoiling or ruining any facets of the entire ME trilogy, I would say that when you make the last choice in the game, I…

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing2010

4 out of 5 stars

I love Kart racing games. Obviously my fanboyishness for the genre began with the original Mario Kart for the SNES, and since then, it has become the standard for all Kart games. Many have emulated the concept with either complete failure or minimal success. Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, in my opinion, is a success. The basic function of the game is a 8 character cart race. The elements of prize boxes are around…

Duke Nukem Forever2011

3 out of 5 stars

I have not really played the original Duke Nukem, and it has been a long time since I have touched Duke Nukem 3D. I also did not pay the original retail price for Duke Nukem Forever. Considering these elements, it may come as no suprise that I actually like this game. I am one of the very few people who do. For those who are not familiar with this games infamous history, I will do my best to explain the order of…

Batman: Arkham City2011

5 out of 5 stars

The best analogy I can make is if the film Batman Begins is to Batman: Arkham Asylum the game, then The Dark Knight film is to Arkham City. Arkham Asylum was already one of the best action/adventure games to come out in a long time. Its mix of exploration, combat, and story telling set a bar that a lot of games have to compete with. Arkham City takes all of these elements and expands upon them in every way. Remember…

Chrono Trigger1995

4 out of 5 stars

I remember playing many RPGs for the Super Nintendo in my youth. I would get together with a group of friends, and we would spend hours grinding our characters, advancing the storyline, and passing the controller off to each other while exchanging our ideas about how to make progress and discussing the storyline. Alas, as time went on, I moved to another state, and I haven't spoke to these friends since. That was…

Resident Evil 52009

5 out of 5 stars

I think one of the problems I had with this game was coming to terms with the fact that Resident Evil 5 is indeed the final installment of the current series (revamp pending). Everything was resolved so abruptly that those who have stuck with the RE franchise since its original conception on the PS1 will feel underwhelmed and slightly let down. The final encounter between Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker feels like…
