The Guild 2 is abysmal.
There's a great idea for a game in here, so I hope I see someone else take up the torch. You play as a family, starting with your first character, and your goal is to eliminate all other family dynasties in the game. You romance, craft, murder, play politics... it sounds so fun doesn't it?
The learning curve is terrible. The game has a lot of material to it, and I feel like I ought to be enjoying it, but I just am not. The basic game has a tutorial, which does a fair job of describing how the crafting system works, letting you thus play one of the four classes in the game worth a damn.
I logged over 8 hours on this game and I'm still not completely clear how everything is done. There might be a good game hiding in here somewhere, but you'll spend forever trying to get to it, and being frustrated by the lack of direction and clarity until then. My advice is to skip this game, because it doesn't have its act together. I'd like to go back in time and tell myself that two days ago.
