Company of Heroes is an RTS set in WW2, where you command units of soldiers and artillery to capture resource points, and eventually annhilate the enemy.
Gameplay
The gameplay had a lot of potential, but dissapoints in the end by how it is so easy. Enemies essentially don't attack you unless you come near them, and resource points provide infinite resources, meaning you can control a certain amount of area, literally have dinner, go out for a jog, come back, then easily win the game by spamming soldiers onto the enemy's base. The same story applies to each map unfortunately, which takes any challenge or initiative out of the game. Some units, such as the sherman tanks, are overpowered and have very little weaknesses. Endgames basically involve taking a bunch of tanks, and engineers to "heal" them, over to the enemy base and blow up all of their structures. Not something unseen before. 2/5.
Story
The story is probably the high point in the game, but then again, it's WW2 and has been done before. I think soldiers sacrificing their lives and acting all brave about it will always touch our hearts - but not necessarly our minds. 3/5
Graphics
Fairly good graphics, when set high enough it seems like you're playing Call of Duty in 3rd person. There's actually not much to complain about here, models and textures are fairly detailed and it does well for what it is. Nothing exceptional however, and similar graphics can be seen in other games. 4/5.
Sound
Good voice acting and sound effects, with appropriate music. However, nothing really stands out and the same dialogue spoken by soldiers when you click on them, and the same artillery sound effects can also get old fast. 3/5.
Not technically a bad game, but hard to recommend unless you are a huge fan of RTS's or WW2. Available on Steam along with its expansion bundled together for a reasonable price.
