My Year in Gaming 2018

by matsemann08

I played a lot fewer games this year, and the games I played I didn't play as much. It still wasn't a problem coming up with 10 great games for my list this year.

2018 has been a great year for games once again.

Showing 1-10 of 10 items

Monster Hunter: World

1. Monster Hunter: World

My third Monster Hunter game, but the first that really got me. The older games were good, but with all the quality of life changes in World it makes this my favorite game of 2018. Bring on the monsters!

Return of the Obra Dinn

2. Return of the Obra Dinn

A short and stunning game. The most unique experience I've had this year.

Red Dead Redemption II

3. Red Dead Redemption II

What is there to say? I loved Arthurs story and the world he lived in. Red Dead 2 doesn't win my game of the year mostly because the game dragged towards the end, the epilogue especially.

God of War

4. God of War

The first God of War game I've played has both action and heart. A thoroughly great experience from start to finish.

Marvel's Spider-Man

5. Marvel's Spider-Man

The Ultimate Spider-Man game, the swinging is Amazing, the graphics are Spectacular, and the story is just so fun.

Oxygen Not Included

6. Oxygen Not Included

Addictive as all hell, it's hard putting the game down when all I want to do is dig out on more room, lay down a few more meters of Heavi-Watt Wire, and figure out how this goddamn self-sustaining Natural Gas Generator system is supposed to work. Constant big updates made me come back to Oxygen Not Included though the whole year, I can't wait to play more next year.

Yoku's Island Express

7. Yoku's Island Express

Pinball + Platforming + Puzzles = Yoku's Island Express The most fun I've had in the Switch's second year. A great little indie adventure.

Divinity: Original Sin II

8. Divinity: Original Sin II

Divinity: Original Sin II: Definitive Edition. It's just so good, the mechanics and story are improved over the first game, and the Definitive Edition makes last years game even better.

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee!

9. Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee!

Gotta Catch 'Em All again I guess, and now with 100x more catching!

Into the Breach

10. Into the Breach

The tenth spot on this list could easily have gone to three other games, but even with only a few hours in this game it deserves a spot on my list. Great strategy, look and replayability. I just wished I could play it on my phone or tablet.
