Non-Mario 2D Platformer Tier List

I got this idea from last week. I've played so many 2D Platformers that I felt compelled to do a tier list for the genre. The thing is though is that I feel like Super Mario is the 2D platforming franchise I've spent the most time with. So while Super Mario has some all time great games and I'd argue that maybe 1 or 2 of these games can rival Super Mario World for the greatest 2D Platformer, I wanted to make a tier list for 2D Platformers without any Mario games. So this tier list will have some pretty big Platforming franchises represented such as Sonic, Kirby and Klonoa. But what about other Nintendo Platformers that star other Mario Characters? I decided not to include Yoshi games because I think those games a still connected to Mario enough with mutual enemies from Mario that I don't think they can qualify here. Sorry to the recent Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Donkey Kong Country and Wario Land? I think those franchises have enough of an identity with enemy variety and level design that I think they belong here. There are also a handful of indie platformers I have on this list. And to be honest when I was going through all of these 2D Platformers, I haven't beaten all of these games. In fact, some of these games may be rated as such where I had a really good time with them but because I spent an hour I don't feel comfortable putting these games into the highest tier (Rayman Origins, Windswept, etc). However if I do spend more time with these games the rankings can change and they can move up or down the tiers. Also for a few more rules, I didn't include Metroidvanias since I think that is a genre in itself despite the similarities to platformers. I also avoided action platformers that leaned too heavy on the action such as Mega Man and Castlevania. Some of these games certainly have action sequences but I think there is enough platforming variety for them to count. Oh and few of theses games are from when I played them at a young and I'm going off of memory on when I last played them such as any Genesis Sonic game that's not 2 and some licensed portable platformers that I already ranked on my Game Boy and GBA tier list BTW Austin Powers Oh Behave has a game in it called Austin Powers: The Platform Game so I'm ranking that game specifically. Also Klonoa is a bit weird since I'm ranking the Phantasy Reverie versions of that game. So for Door to Phantomile that will be labeled as Phantasy Reverie Series and Lunatea's Veil will be its own game. So anyways here is the tier list! Naming each tier based on 2D Mario games that I think reflect the quality of the games listed.

*So I noticed Windswept does not have a page on Giant Bomb and that's unfortunate because from what I've played of that game I think its pretty cool! If I could rank it Windswept would be in the Super Mario Bros. tier. Also I played the Game Gear Sonic the Hedgehog via Sonic Adventure DX with its Sonic Game Gear library included and that sure is a Super Mario Land tier game.
