top 10 Games of the year 2011

by winsol

My own personal top 10 games of 2011

Showing 1-10 of 10 items

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I've been a big fan of the eldar scrolls since morrowind, so when this game was annouced i didn't even need to read anything about it as it was a day 1 purchase for me reguardless. It's kinda crazy how much content is in this game, i've played approching 100 hours and i've bearly even done much of the main quest. Quite simply, this is the best game i've played all year, without a doubt.

Batman: Arkham City

2. Batman: Arkham City

Arkham ayslum was probaly my own game of the year for 2009 and it's no surpise that it's sequel ups the bar that little bit more. The game is brimming with content and has alot of reply value. The main campign is a nice mystery that slowly comes together before a very memorable ending that has me more and more excided for batman 3...or batmanbatmanbatman *fingerscrossed*.

Bastion

3. Bastion

It took me a few hours to get into bastion, but once the game gripped me i burst through the remainder of the story and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It's kinda crazy that games haven't really had a narrator before this (that i recall) but it works so well here that i suspect ti won't be long before we see more and more of them. Every part of the game is beutiful to look at and something i easily recommend to my friends at every opportunity.

Mortal Kombat

4. Mortal Kombat

I'm not a fighting game guy, but mortal kombat was the only fighter i liked back when i was younger and the new one is good enough for even someone who doesn't like fighting games to happily play through. If it wasn't for a faulty disk i would have finished this long ago and found out who the fuck "he" is!

Saints Row: The Third

5. Saints Row: The Third

It's nuts, it's stupid, it's big, it's dumb and it's fucking fantastic. The game is a blast to play, and the co-op is done very well. It does what it does very well, and even though i have my reservastions against the game, the possitives FAR outweight them. Dude, burt renoylds, nuff said.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

6. Star Wars: The Old Republic

So this game turned out pretty good. Amazing how all the "smarks" on the internet had writen this off, guess the new found hatred of bioware has spread pretty far (funny how it started once they made mass effect 2, almost like they just want to hate whats popular). In the end, this is an mmo, if you didn't like them before, this will not change your mind. if you do like them, it's the best mmo made since world of warcraft, and the stories are surpisingly good devices to keep you coming back. Get some friends to join you and give it a try.

Portal 2

7. Portal 2

More great stuff for vavle on this one, both the single player and co-op are really well done and fun to play through. It doesn't have the new feeling of playing something truley unquie like the first one did (a problem with a few games this year) but was still an enjoyable way to spend 6-10 hours on both campaigns.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

8. Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Although i will admit that it didn't meet my expectations, this game is still well worth playing through and i definitely enjoyed myself while playing it.

Terraria

9. Terraria

Some people call Terraria "2d minecraft", i prefer to call it "2d minecraft if minecraft was in fact a game". It was a fun game to play through to a pointwere i thought i could stop, and have been going back to check out the changes they have been making every few months. It surpised even me that i was able to squeeze over 50 hours out of this simple indie game.

Dragon Age II

10. Dragon Age II

It was a fun enough game. The reusing of areas got on the rediculos side toward the end, and the story could have better linked up after the time skips, but it had some very memorable characters and the action was fun enough to keep me going to complestion. Haters be damned, i liked.
