So far 2015 has been a typical good game year, and if the expected upcoming E3 game announcements (Dishonored 2, Fallout 4) actually come out this year it may be a great year.
It's now looking to be a stellar gaming year with Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 coming out before the year's out.
Indeed Fallout 4 is out and it's amazing. Now it's looking like this is the year of the RPG with many of the best past rpgs releasing enhanced editions for this year. Interesting how some times things cycle back around. Not long ago it was a huge surprise to get just 1 great rpg released in a year. Now, largely due to KickStarter, rpgs are back in force and good and varied as ever. Seems people wanted rpgs but (most) big studios didn't want to fund them, thankfully people in bulk did on KickStarter.
This has been a stellar year for video games. Maybe the best yet (at least for my tastes). There are several games I've had to remove after adding previously. It's difficult to figure out which 10 to pick. Additionally there are half a dozen games that I want to play that could make this list (mostly PS4 games I have yet to get to), but I doubt I'll get to them before the year runs out.I can't remember a past year with so many games worthy of GOTY contention. I suspect I'll be making more tweaks as I get more game time in as the year wraps up, but first I'll have to get over my Fallout 4 addiction. I've got a ton of great games to play keeping me busy into early 2016.

Fallout is back and it's largely unchanged which I Love because it has everything I enjoyed from 3 and New Vegas. I've put over 50 hours into this game and (as I write) it's not been out even a week. Often sequels disappoint, so far, this one is giving me everything the previous version had along with improved combat. I also prefer the Boston setting/missions over the last New Vegas. If you are a Fallout fan you are sure to love 4, if not then you won't as it is the Fallout experience through and through. I love how Borderlands combines RPG and FPS and now Fallout 4 like Mass Effect 2 has done a wonderful job of combining the 2 genres as well. Vats is now useful when you are overrun and need to slow things down versus being the forced go to mechanic for attacking. The plus is if you hate fps VATS works fine so you can always VATS like before just make sure you have a way of acquiring those action points quickly (lots of Agility, some weapons have perks like crit resets AP..). I was so worried I had over hyped my love of Fallout (not having played it for a few years), thank you Bethesda for delivering on my hyped expectations. I am going to be lost looking for my next rpg/fps fix once I finish all the content in this game. Now I have spent over 240 hours in this game, after beating it my first play through (as much as you beat this game, guess more like completed core story missions for faction), I've been treating this like a customizable fps. My 2nd character I created to see what a charismatic character working for the Brotherhood would be like (as I didn't play Brotherhood missions first go thru) and I focused on found weapons/mods vs custom built ones. It was pretty cool being able to nail all the yellow/red dialog choices and then I got into maximizing buy/sell prices (15 charisma seems to maximize them, no need for buy/sell perk if you have maxed Charisma as it has no further effect). Now I'm on my 3rd character trying a melee build, with the Agility Blitz skill it's really enjoyable. I've found I can continue my enjoyment with this rpg by trying out different builds with it's fps comabat mechanics. Most RPGs I'm more than tired of by the time I finish and have no desire to return, this one is such an enjoyable fps with so many different interesting areas/scenarios that it's a joy to revisit and try different things. The amount of content/story in so many areas/buildings is amazing. Too often there isn't near this much content and when there is it's repetitive, here most areas tell their unique (and usually interesting or funny) story.
I'm currently obsessed with this game, trying to become the perfect thief. It's not easy either, but I've yet to lose faith I can do so. I keep learning new tricks, the upgrade power up system is fantastic. The randomly generated levels keep things interesting and usually appear designed by a madman. I already want a sequel, somehow this game has got me hooked like no other has this year.
This is a great arpg, by far my favorite in the series. If you enjoy arpg games but disliked the previous Van Helsing games, you should try this one out. It's been streamlined making leveling up skills more meaningful. If however you loved the past 2 Van Helsing games it's very possible you'll dislike the 3rd as it's done away with the dozen+ skill system and utilizes new versus importing old classes. So fans of the series beware, arpg loving non-fans you should try this out and not think about previous versions as this one feels like a fresh new start for the series that I happen to really enjoy.
Can't find new one in gb db, so had to pick this. I don't think I've played the old King's Quest games and I had no interest in this one until I saw Brad's quicklook. I find the game as enjoyable as I had anticipated after seeing that. It's a fun interactive adventure. I hate when people compare it to Telltale stories as I feel it plays very differently. I enjoy it as it makes me feel like I'm wandering around a cartoon land. I'm very impressed with it's presentation and enjoy the simplicity of it's interactions with the environment which feels like a great simplified way to do a modern adventure game. I can't believe the voice talent they got for narration. This is the most enjoyable adventure game I've ever played.
DOS came out in 2014, but I waited to play the Enhanced version which came out in 2015 hence it being on this list. GB db doesn't have the Enhanced version as a separate listing, and it would be interesting to know how GB staff feels about them when looking at GOTY content. I have to admit I've barely scratched the surface with this game, so many games to play right now. From what I've seen and read I'm sure I'll continue to enjoy myself when I get back to really play out this game. So far for me it's been a fun wizardly/mage game heavily focused on elemental powers. The story has been light and fun entertainment making me feel relaxed in this world with a race war going on. There's already some intrigue and mystery letting me know everything isn't as it would first appear on the surface. This is a modern RPG that so far at least appears to be well written, fun, and deep with stats.
PC version looks so good, it really is enjoyable (to my surprise) to just drive and look around. It seamlessly switches between controller and mouse/keyboard which is excellent as I prefer to drive/walk with controller but shoot with mouse. This is an excellent port reworked to take advantage of the pc.
This is the way I want my rpgs, plenty of skills/stats and they make differences.
The best open world zombie game I've played. Interesting story line, variety of deadly zombies, variety of weapons, leveling up mechanics, and zone control (safehouses) make this an enjoyable zombie killing game.
It's enjoyable again to be a silent assassin. I particularly like the new missions were you free the children. All told several new types of missions and mechanics. I have mixed feelings on most of the new additions, but at least it's different which makes this feel fresher than most of the sequels. I've enjoyed my time with it.
