Holy crap, I played a lot of RPGs this year!
Sea of Stars was seemingly a lock for me even though I played it early in the year (March), and despite smoking that Shin Megami hash pipe all summer, I'd still put it at number 1.
But then Metaphor showed up and devoured 130 hours of my life. What a game.
Balatro showed up late in the year as well and was a good palette cleanser to Fantazio during my 10 day recovery on the couch after nose surgery.
Tekken & Street Fighter 6 dominated most Thursdays. We called Tekken 8 the Street Fighter killer... but Manon and friends won the day.
Maybe next year (special shoutouts):
I would have bet money that Kage: Shadow of the Ninja would have made the cut, being a big Tengu Project fan - but I just didn't put the time in. \
Couple of shmuppy shoutouts: Xelan Force and (takes a deep breath) Osyaberi! Horijyo! Gekihori: Anna Holinski saves the universe, alright?! - a game so obscure it's not in the GB database.
Biggest Disappointment:
Penny's Big Breakaway - was really looking forward to seeing what the Sonic Mania boys could do with their own IP... but apparently it's make Jank: The Game.
