2016 will go down as one of the worst years of them all. If you were a celebrity of any prominence in the 80s, you died. If you were a POC, the police assaulted you. If you were a clown, the world cowered in fear of you. If you lived in Louisiana, you lost your home. British dudes lost the EU. Americans got Trump. No one got out clean.
That said, video games were pretty good, so thank the sweet lord for that.

Giant Bomb won't let me just put each version of this individually, which I totally would if possible. This is a year when I got 3 real Fire Emblem games. Can't ask for much more than that. Of the 3, Conquest plays the best but has the most insufferable plot. Not since Bravely Default has a JRPG cast been this dense/stupid. Birthright had the best plot, but Honestly, it's all secondary to the gameplay and individual character moments.
A really beautiful game with a joie de vivre not typically associated with competitive shooters. Brown military shooters are pretty lame, and I got tired of those like a decade ago, but this was a lot of fun for a month or so. Alas, bad internet and waning interest from my circle of friends mean I don't get to play it much, but it was more fun in that brief period than most games. May've even usurped perennial number one contender, FE, had It held up longer.
