This site created some engagement (and some arguments) recently with a "best of" list that covered the first quarter of this here century that we're in, like right now. A recurring repine in the comments of this enterprise was how votes were split between GOTY editions of games and their originals—say, Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden, the former being the one I voted for to perhaps the detriment of P4G supporters wishing that version ranked higher—not to mention the spread voting for individual games in a series that were functionally identical but for a few feature changes and a new story.
Suffice it to say, I wondered what a Top 100 list would look like for that period of time if you only included games that never had follow-ups. Games that don't belong to a "series" since that would connote more than one of them, so there'd be no risk of their predecessors or sequels bogarting their votes. I've tried my best to come up with my own (subjective, of course, since I'm no scientist) Top 100 of entirely one-and-done projects, but technicalities and any announced sequel news of which I am incognizant might still be factors.
*(I guess I should also slap a big ol' "in progress" somewhere since I'm certainly not caught up with all the games I've wanted to play from the last 25 years and there's more I have played that I've probably forgotten about. Hell, I'm still annually updating my "Best Indies of the 2010s" list and it stopped being the 2010s like forever ago.)
Disclaimer: This isn't the Giant Bomb site's Top 100 Standalones As Voted By the Community That One Time. This is all me and my opinions. That's why it's a cooler list. On the off-chance you'd prefer that list, though, you can enjoy it over here with my blessing.

Plenty of imitators, no sequels. No remasters either. What's with that?
"The Final Fantasy XIII that wasn't".
"Commercial failure" my ass. Let Shu Takumi make another one.
There doesn't need to be another Terraria because they can keep expanding this one forever.
Lucas Pope doesn't seem like a "sequel" kind of guy, but I'd be down for a sci-fi variant one of these.
Yes, sure, Ubisoft has been promising a sequel for decades but... c'mon. C'mon now.
Ico and The Last Guardian sort of hang with this but also mostly don't. Ueda's not one for continuity.
There have been other Souls games but they aren't Demon's. Well, some of them were certainly demonic but you catch my meaning.
Considered too cool to follow up. By scientists.
They really decided to just let Sleeping Dogs lie, huh?
