At the moment this list is mainly meant to remind me of the games I've played thus far this year. Later on in the year it will be transformed into a full-on Best of 2012 list.

Why is this my game of the year? Because it has the best storytelling that videogames have perhaps ever seen and I'm sure that we will be talking about "The Walking Dead" clones in the coming years in the same way as we talk about "Call of Duty" clones now.
Halo 4 was perhaps not the best videogame this year but it definitely was the most videogame videogame to come out in 2012. Gameplay which has been tuned to sing like a baby dolphin, an expansive and fully featured multiplayer buffet to last through the year and gorgeous graphics. Halo 4 deserves to be up here.
The Journey was a powerful and gorgeus one. Very nearly made it to the top spot.
I probably spent more time in XCOM than I did with any other game this year. If I had to pick a "Best PC-game" this would definitely be it, even though I played The Walking Dead on a PC.
Even though I still enjoy the physics of Forza 4 more, I think that this is the best driving game ever made. If they had only included split-screen multiplayer this could actually have been my Game of the Year.
