Donkey Kong Country

1. Donkey Kong Country

How can one describe the greatness of this game? It's all about gameplay and stylish graphics. The depth is found on the freedom you have to execute whatever you want, the way you want. It's about the level designs of unparalleled greatness, the animal friends, and the unforgettable soundtrack. A classic in every sense of the word, one of the most sublime gaming experiences.

Super Mario World

2. Super Mario World

I dare someone to find a person who had a Super Nintendo and never played this game. I find it strange having to add this to any "best of" list of games, simply because this is practically gaming, if video-games weren't called video-games, they could pretty much be called Super Mario World. Not much to say than you probably know by now, and that every one should acknowledge the timeless greatness of Super Mario World.

Super Mario Kart

3. Super Mario Kart

Once I game I hated--being stuck in the character selection screen is not something to be proud of--to then become one of the best game I have ever played. This is the game responsible for my passion for racing games, the cleanness of each lap was something I sought, each memorable song etched in my mind, along with all the beloved Nintendo characters I had learned to love. This is probably the game I rented the most in my life.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

4. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Every Donkey Kong Country had a special feeling inserted within. It was subtle, but noticeable. Donkey Kong Country 2 may have the most peculiar of the three. I remember when this game was released, the feeling of finally being playing the sequel to one of my favorite games was great. They don't make games like this anymore, Rare may have hit the jackpot with the first Country, but this is no less memorable than Rare's greatest achievement to date.

Super Mario All-Stars

5. Super Mario All-Stars

A collection of ages.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

6. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Sometimes Nintendo don't go for the easy path when it comes to sequels, they like keeping things new and fresh, this is an example. It's got nothing to do with Super Mario World except the 2D platforming, but it's amazing in its own way, and that's important. As much as most of us would have liked a new Super Mario World in the style we all learned to love, maybe this maneuver helped us love Super Mario World even more, with an added bonus of loving its innovative brother as well.

Chrono Trigger

7. Chrono Trigger

Chrono.

Super Metroid

8. Super Metroid

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

9. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

For the third and final installment of the trilogy the formula was already clear. This may be the weakest of the three, but it's still better than 98% of the games released after it. The path to success was already discovered and Rare trod nicely through it. Maybe some developers should take note on how not to screw up things that are right.

International Superstar Soccer

10. International Superstar Soccer

This was the first game I actually bought, I had the fixed idea of only renting games, I once found a good deal and my mother let me buy it. Being a huge fan of soccer it is no surprise that I venerated this incredibly fun football game when I was little, up until today I tend to always lean toward this franchise instead of FIFA. I guess some things never change.
