My Top Ten Games of 2024

by madbootsy

I'm late! It's fine! 2024 was another transformative and important year in my life. I made some amazing new friends and created a lot of incredible memories this year. This year was also a reminder to me that despite the best intentions, some people I knew will never truly change and fully accept accountability for what they did in the past and that is what it is. Oh well.

In terms of GAMES, I played all sorts this year and enjoyed a fair bit of multiplayer games with friends, which included: beating Elden Ring Seamless Co-op AGAIN (still a blast), WEBFISHING (well worth the money), Party Animals and a lotta COD BLOPS 6 (for better or worse). I also replayed a couple games and I loved those replays, those included: Detroit Become Human, Ghost of Tsushima and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

Anyways, here's the games from 2024 that I enjoyed THE MOST:

Showing 1-10 of 10 items

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

1. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

As a big fan of the original Indy trilogy, this game is nothing short of incredible. The attention to detail, it's faithfulness to what made those first three movies so beloved, the big open world maps, Troy's pretty good Harrison Ford impression... it all comes together into a package that is a must play for Indy fans. We finally got a good Indy story again, holy shit!

Balatro

2. Balatro

No game sucked up my time this year quite like BALATRO, it was an easy game to just boot up and vibe to while listening to a podcast. So good. I love all the Joker combinations and all the ways the game WANTS you to break it! When the big numbers come up, it's so satisfying.

Helldivers II

3. Helldivers II

Heckdivers II was an unexpected phenomenon - all my friends were playing it, people were clamoring to get into the servers when it first came out for those first couple months. It was a wild. It was a blast and it still is a blast. I love the latest update. Just a damn good MP game.

Lockdown Protocol

4. Lockdown Protocol

I'm biased because the group I play this game with are some of the funniest people I've ever met, so we make a lot of funny moments and memories playing this one. This game has gotten so many laughs from my group of friends, it's a well done version of Among Us that surpasses it's inspiration. Now they just need to stop mucking it up with weird updates (GUN CRATES?!)!

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II

5. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II

Surprised how good this was! The gameplay is really solid, the campaign is a bit short but very sweet and it has staying power with the operations mode! Great co-op fun.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

6. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

A fantastic "Vampire Survivor" type of game that was my other go-to in terms of podcast vibing. This game is something special.

Until Dawn

7. Until Dawn

A remake that I enjoyed replaying, even if certain elements of the original are still extremely cheesy. It looks really good at times too!

Earth Defense Force 6

8. Earth Defense Force 6

Kind of weird how they did the story campaign in this one, but it's still EDF and it's still a good time with friends.

Content Warning

9. Content Warning

I didn't get as much time in with this one as I wanted this year, but when I did play it, I had a blast making funny videos with my friends.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

10. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Look, it's more Dead Rising and that's a good thing. Is it perfect? No. Do I miss the original Frank West VA? Yep! Is Dead Rising 2/Off the Record arguably much better gameplay-wise? I think so. Still though, Dead Rising is back in a way that I really appreciated - I only hope they give 2 the same treatment in the near future.
