Red Dead Redemption

1. Red Dead Redemption

By far the greatest single player experience of the year, the story was absolutely phenomenal, and is the closest mainstream game to fit into the "Games as art" genre that I can think of. And the multiplayer was fun too.

Mass Effect 2

2. Mass Effect 2

A game I spent hours and hours in, and will spend more time, just missed out on the top spot due to the fact that the game did very little to hide how your choices effected things in the long run.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

3. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

A great follow up to AC2 and the multiplayer brought a mix of stabbing and hiding to the stale FPS of multiplayer

Halo: Reach

4. Halo: Reach

A great multiplayer experience and the single player wrapped up an era, Forge and Forgeworld are things I will continually return too

Heavy Rain

5. Heavy Rain

Not much of a game, more an interactive novel, never thought a game of quick time events would be so fun

Call of Duty: Black Ops

6. Call of Duty: Black Ops

Only appears on this list as it is the only other new game I played this year, the singleplayer was very predictable and the multiplayer has become a breeding ground of frustraatttion but I still enjoyed it

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

7. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Somewhat of a lackluster singleplayer, but the realistic bullet physics in the multiplayer made it alot of fun with a good squad of dudes
