Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn

The Apex. Strikes a balance between decent tactical combat and fantastic writing. I much prefer the writing in this one to Planescape Torment, though that one is often lauded for its writing. Torment hasn't aged well for many reasons, whereas SoA is still a monumental high watermark for cRPG games that is still emulated today by developers such as Owlcat and Larian.

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal

Amelysan the Blackhearted can't quite fill the shoes of Jon Irenicus (or David Warner), but this is still a fantastic Baldur's Gate game that, despite being an expansion, contains a whole other game worth of content.

Icewind Dale II

Icewind Dale II

The last infinity engine game. Uses 3rd edition rules. Nice mix of dungeon and story. Just not as much story as the other games . . .
