I love the gameplay structure which is similar to God of War and even back to Ocarina of Time where it's a decent-sized overworld and you go through a door or slowly crawl through a crack in the wall and you're in a structured "level" of the game. I've played and had fun with the previous interations of Gears so I knew what I was getting into and had as much fun as I expected. Given that the story of the original trilogy is so ridiculous and mindless and such a defining product of the mid-2000s and "Gamerz with a Z" culture. And with that, I really wanted to know how they were going to somehow craft a modern story from the remnants of the ashes of that X-Games, energy drink, dude-bro sensiblities. I'm happy to say they pulled it off pretty well. In my opinion, at least. And was more-or-less the dude-bro audience 10 years ago
