This year the games I though i was going to love I hated and the games I didn't think much of turned out to be true champions. Could not have asked for more fun top ten releases of the year.

An open world game that make you feel free to roam the land instead of collect items scattered on a map. 100+ Hours of fun adventuring. I love large open world games but hate having hundreds of pointless collectables or side activities scattered on the map. More games should let you just roam free and explore the land not to collect pointless rubbish but just to explorer for the sake of seeing exciting new locations and events.
A unique video game story, unlike any other video games in its class. All games would benefit from having slightly more complex narratives. If more games would have the courage to dive into the deeper and crazier end of story telling we could all benefit with more surprise hits like this game. Filled with numerous memorable moments until I had to delete them all. ;(
Can’t get enough of the fast-paced run and gun fighting destiny offers. Once again, a lacking narrative but was an enjoyable 50 hours of shooting. I don’t know if I will bother playing all the expansions like I did with the first game but I sure did have a fun time completing all the activity’s, mission and the RAID in the main game.
With something like six DLC armies added to the last game and then four more in this game with yet another DLC army coming soon and a giant combined campaign map featuring almost every army in Warhammer. This truly is the ultimate Warhammer game and the last one we need for a long time. Citadel Games has always been lacking in new releases in their collectable figuring game but with too many factions for any other game to fit it brings me never ending joy to have a complete Warhammer virtual experience. I can see my self easily spending many more hours playing each army and half completing campaigns.
A new and interesting telling of the Batman story. I’m always slightly bias towards anything Batman but I really think telltale have done a great job in telling their version of Batmans story. I think its important with well known franchises to try something different instead of just repeating the same known story again and again.
much improvement on the last release and the story lacks a certain dramatic wait I normally expect with a Nazi orientated story. Seeming to replace meaningful story with comedy that doesn’t always work. But still a great game and a I can’t wait for the end to this ridiculous trilogy.
Instead of doing my normally annual playthrough of sonic the hedgehog 2 every year I will now play sonic mania. Finally, a game I can truly consider the sequel to one of my favourite games of all time. This is the true Sonic 3 and with a great final hit lets put an end to Sonic once and for all. I’m happy to switch between playing Sonic, Sonic 2 and Sonic Mania for the rest of my days. With no need for another sonic release ever again. Thankyou Sega now let it end with a bang not with a whimper.
Full of style with catchy music. I think the level of difficulty is just right and was fun apart from a couple of tricky bosses. Unfortunately, I think that the two-player mode is broken which Is what I mostly played. So, I have to place the game further down the list than it deserves. They seem to double the bosses’ health which technically sounds correct but in actual game play kind of ruins it. Fighting a difficult boss for three to four minuets is fun and enjoyable but when that gets extended to five or six minuets you end up having a far harder time. You still have to dodge every single attack, having two players rarely separates many attacks between you. So, you just end up having to be twice as good as you need to be. Bosses health should have been extended to 160% or something close and this would have kept the boss fights shorter and more manageable.
Star Wars Battlefront II I am so excited to play this game, the last entry was weak and rushed but with more time I’m sure that they have improved it in every way I want. Can’t wait to fly tie fighters in 4k graphics and play an awesome high-resolution Star Wars story… No wait you filled it full of micro transactions and not just small buffs or cosmetic upgrades but actually built the whole game around random loot boxes. I wanted to gamble I would put money on bitcoin or go to a casino. So in protest I’m not going to play your game EA get your act together. Let’s give this game of the year slot to a fun multiplayer game that didn’t try to squeeze me for money. Player Unknowns Battlegrounds your awesome and I don’t need to saying anything else about you because everyone already knows.
Middle Earth Shadow of War I was so excited about a sequel to one of my favourite video games… I am so disappointed in how this turned out. This is one of the most disappointing follow ups to a game I cared so much about I have ever played. It’s not bad and in fact I had so much fun it’s on the best games list but I expected so much more. The story is terrible and forces you to repeat castle sieges just to see an extra terrible ending that basically made the whole story pointless but gameplay is fun. I had those great moments of finding a rival orc who just won’t stay dead and returns for revenge at the worst times or taking a low-level orc and helping them up through the ranks to head warcheif. Because of those great moment I will force myself to forget about how bad the last ten hours of so made me feel and the ending to the story. Wait I just remember while righting that on top of that they made me pay extra for a Silver Edition or something and then asked for micro transaction money. Nope F*** it last minute change I’m giving its place to PREY. F*** you warner brothers even if I did have lots of fun but you still did such a good job of murdering this game with greedy money grabbing S*** and forcefully extending gameplay length to encourage spending. PREY was a good game it deserves the praise instead.
