The game of games. Spent hours finding ever single beautiful ending. Intentionally broken, Complete lack of structure and a satisfactory ending. Normally these would be bad things but The Stanley Parable intentionally does everything wrong and that's what makes it the best. It wants to do the opposite of ever other game and that makes it the strongest release of the year. Its the kind of game that would laugh at your meta-critic.
Assassinate target, Have sex with women, Assassinate target, have sex with women, repeat till game ends. I have never seen a game that so well knew exactly what it was and wanted to be. With incredible unique visuals and game-play to back it up. With a story that intentionally makes almost zero sense and means nothing.
The music levels, especially the remastered ones in the final world are some of the best designed levels in plat-formers since the beginning of time.
Any game that brings me to tears, instantly belongs on this list.
Consistent at being inconsistent and predictably unpredictable
(spoiler) The game-play/story twist about time travel and how that effects your party is one of the most interesting
I don't know if this game is good or bad all I know is that I lost 3 days of my life to it. Spent the majority of my time for 3 days playing and I don't really know why.
I'm unfairly bias towards assassins creed games, I have played all six games so far and enjoyed all of them. There's something about clearing out the whole world map of everything that I find enjoyable. This one is one of the better games. Its the closest game to a 'next gen' title that we had this year. With an open sea that lets you sail around causing fun pirate mayhem. I felt like a pirate and that's all that really matters.
I really don't know why I enjoyed tomb raider more than bio-shock or grand theft auto. Those are definitely better games. Grand theft auto felt like I was living the lives of three people and bio shock took me on an adventure in the sky but tomb raiders the game that I enjoyed more. I think its the all the little things like certain game play mechanics and the focus of the story that makes it feel so much more than it is. Out of these three games somehow I felt that tomb raider took me on the better and richer adventure.
I love first person shooter and shooting monsters and people in the head repeatedly but somehow the shooters that are getting made are more and more uninteresting and feel like a bland call to the duty of shooting people. But metro like the last game in the franchise is different from the companion in so many ways. For me it doesnt matter how inperfect a game you are so long as you do something different from all the others that makes you stand out and there is plenty that stands out here. Runner ups; Spelunky BioShock Infinite Grand Theft Auto V All so close but not quiet unique enough to make it. If spelunky had better multiplayer it might have made it. If grand theft auto had better multiplayer it might have made it and if bio-shock had better game-play it might have made it.
