Just for fun, I thought I'd post my GOTY from 2000 to 2009. I'll update my 2010 choice at the end of the year. I'm not arguing the technical merits, nor the overall influence these game may or may not have had on the industry. I'm just stating my personal favorites for every year since 2000.
Runners-up would be:
Diablo II (2000)
Assassin's Creed (2007)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009)
Uncharted 2 (2009)
Assassin's Creed II (2009)
Red Dead Redemption (2010)
Witcher 2 (2011)
Saint's Row: The Third (2011)
Far Cry 3(2012)
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds(2013)
Shadow of Mordor (2014)
Fallout 4 (2015)
