[Played on Steam Deck] So... I had almost finished Borderlands 3 back in 2019, but mainly due to moving and some tech issues I was dealing with at the time (waiting to play it on my "new" 82" 4k TV that had significantly delayed ARC issues while trying solutions to get Dolby Atmos _AND_ HDMI-VRR to work) I was SO close to the end but didn't finish it. Given that Borderlands 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, this is a serious crime that needed to be addressed... especially considering I've played through Tiny Tina's Wonderland quite some time back now! This time, Borderlands 3 just clicked. I _really_ loved the gunplay, the loot mechanics, enemy diversity... it's awesome. So much so I bought the DLCs and am working through Guns, Love and Tentacles at the moment. With that being said, there are a few issues that have been hard to get over. Main antagonists aside (they suck), the biggest issue for me is the two minute launch times even on the Series X. Being a dad now, sometimes I only get to play for 20-30 minutes at a time. Playing on the Steam Deck (and being able to just sleep it) made playing through the game so much better.
[Played on Steam Deck] "Guns, Love and Tentacle" DLC. This was a bit of a weird DLC, just because I wasn't expect it be... creepier than I was expecting. It's not scary, instead, it's almost a lighter Evil Dead mix of horror and comedy. It's a crazy romp, with Hammerlock, Jakobs, and an old favorite (Gaige) returning as their wedding planner. Gaige is my favorite Borderlands 2 character. They added her in a DLC, and she's amazing... the anarchy system and her Deathtrap made playing solo SO much better than alot of the other characters. It's one of the reasons I've been playing through as FLAK... in some ways they are very similar. Gaige (and Deathtrap) returns, and antics ensue. I loved it. Totally worth it for me.
[Played on Steam Deck] "Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck" DLC. Another Borderlands 2 DLC character-focused DLC, I never really played as Krieg, but after how much I loved "Guns, Love and Tentacles", I was really hoping for this one to be a banger as well. Unfortunately, it's a pretty short and straight forward/linear romp with few memorable moments. The middle act's train area and boss fight was awesome, but the previous act had some some of the worst boss battles I've seen in awhile -- particularly the Evil Mordecai & Brick boss battle where both characters are just bullet sponges. Still, I enjoyed the romp as always... I was just hoping it would have been good as the one I played before it.
[Played on Steam Deck] "Mad Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot" DLC. I didn't enjoy this one as much as "Guns, Love, and Tentacles", but it was still generally a much more enjoyable romp than Fustercluck. It's a standard heist type setup, and Handsome Jack -- even dead -- is a better final enemy than the Calypso twins.
[Played on Steam Deck] "Bounty of Blood" DLC. OK, this one is so good it was hard to put it down. I loved the narrator, the boss battles were fun, some "unique" -- at least to Borderlands -- combat mechanics (bomb flowers, jump pads, creature mind control flowers) with lots of area variation wrapped in a western motif. With that said, this is probably the last of the story based DLCs for BL3. Just to wrap up, I'd rank them -- in order of favorite to least favourite: 1. Guns, Love and Tentacles 2. Bounty of Blood 3. Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot 4. Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck. Maybe it's time to take a BL3 break for a bit now lol
