Dead Space

1. Dead Space

Fear was never this well designed onto screen. Capcoms Racoon City was no match (never a match) for Visceral Games' USG Ishimura! Never felt a player such an unique helpless atmosphere like in Isaac Clarke's suit!

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

2. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

The first REAL fusion of RPG & RTS = Unique. Combining heroes with leveling and building units was never accomplished in such a brilliant way.

3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein

There's no need to comment this masterpiece. 1000's of hours inside multiplayer were never acomplished (except the mental succedor ENEMY TERRITORY) in such a motivating way

Assassin's Creed II

4. Assassin's Creed II

After the first part, which was also a great piece of work, this sequel may also not have the best gameplay diversity, but it improved an astonishing and more thrilling story to discover and has until today the BEST realistic open world feeling!

Mafia

5. Mafia

This game's open world was always much more adorable and realistic than Rockstars' Liberty City. Another plus: the dramatic story full of tension with one of the most incredible shocking endings in gaming history.

6. Half-Life 2

Honestly, there wasn't any better Ego-Shooter in Single Player until today.

The best open world space-shooter up to date.
