Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - also known as UAVs - are often used in wartime FPS games to reveal enemy positions. They have become much more popular after showing up in titles such as Modern Warfare and Battlefield.
UAVs in real life are often controlled similarly to a video game, with a pilot operating the craft from a remote location. They are mostly used for reconnaissance and observation, though some UAVs, like the Predator model, come equipped with air-to-ground missiles. In most video games, UAVs serve their observational role by revealing enemy positions on a radar. It's important to kill them for this reason, and you might find you're shooting down more enemy UAVs than helicopters.
