Overview

Super Schwarzschild is a sci-fi strategy game and the third game to be developed in Kogado's Schwarzschild (Franchise) series of space opera-themed turn-based strategy games. However, it is actually a heavily-reworked version of the second game, Schwarzschild II: Teikoku no Haishin, that saw various changes to better suit the console platform such as simplified controls and a slightly less intense difficulty level. Super Schwarzschild was released exclusively to the PC Engine CD-ROM platform in 1991. It was followed by Super Schwarzschild II for the same platform, which instead of being a modified port was a wholly original work. Two years after its original release, Super Schwarzschild was modified again for the Japanese Mega CD and released as Mega Schwarzschild: one of the bigger differences with this version is its real-time ship-to-ship combat that the player can command on the fly by switching the range of the ships and/or their formations.
