Star Wars: Battlefront takes up the banner for Destiny 1.0 of being the best 3 star game I've played this year. Upfront this game has no story and is just about working with your teammates to take down the enemy team. Although it may not have a single player campaign DICE spent a lot of time on making this game look like Star Wars. Between the sounds of a blaster or the gigantic AT-AT everything in this game looks like you remember. This is augmented with the fact that the gun play feels really good as well. Running around blasting stormtroopers is fun and using the different cards to give your team a advantage is vital to obtaining victory. On the flip side if your team is just focused on killing instead of the objective it'll lead to a annoying loss but that isn't anything new in a multiplayer shooter.

The one thing this game has plenty of is modes. Walker Assault will have your team working to ether keep a data link to call in more bombers or protect the AT-AT from the Rebel assault. Supremacy is the other 40 player mode and is about capturing points similar to a standard Battlefield match although only 1 point can be captured at a time. On the small side Droid Run was fun because each match felt tight and battles to figure out who won usually kept going till the very last moments. It has others as well but most are what you would expect from a multiplayer game although some are hero related.Playing a hero like Luke Skywalker can be fun once you figure out how to use his abilities to wipe out the other team.

All of this may sound great at first but the obvious lack of content will be evident a few hours in. After about 10 hours I have unlocked all but one blaster and the other star cards I could unlock don't seem that useful. Map wise this game also feels like it is lacking thanks to the fact they are spread out the maps between different modes. Like the fact that the 40 player matches only have 4 maps so you'll be seeing those maps a lot if you like those modes the best. The flip side of this game having so many modes is that I could see some of the smaller game types become really hard to find a match after a while.

Sure this could become a game that everyone leaves after a while but currently it is thriving and the moment to moment gameplay is enjoyable. It may not be for a fan that cares about the lore but blasting through a map that has explosions going off at every moment is exhilarating. The fact that it is Star Wars is just one more positive in my book. Obviously if your not a fan of the franchise this game isn't for you but anyone that enjoys Star Wars in general should check this game out. Just don't expect it to be the kind of game you can come back to often.

Star Wars Battlefront - Great tech demo but a terrible game 0

I love Star Wars with a burning passion. Everything about the original trilogy is perfect, George Lucas had created some of the most memorable characters and set pieces in the history of cinema, and John Williams is equally to blame for the quality of the series because he is responsible for creating the most symphonic and uplifting score in any movie ever. So when you create a piece of Star Wars media you have every advantage in the world to create something incredible, and from a technical sta...

First off if you knew what this review was about by just reading the quote then you are a true Star Wars fan, bravo! Funny business aside this was my most anticipated game of the year for many reasons. I consider myself to be a big Star Wars fan and to actually be able to play as my favorite characters in a video game is extremely exciting to me. The game was developed by EA DICE, with help from Criterion Games, published by Electronic Arts, and distributed by Lucasfilm Ltd. Now that you know ho...
