South Park was created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, who met as students at University of Colorado Boulder in 1992 and bonded over a shared love of Monty Python. After creating two successful animated short films, South Park was developed by Stone and Parker as a series for Comedy Central that debuted in 1997. It follows four young boys: Stan Marsh (Character), Kyle Broflovski (Character), Eric Cartman (Character), and Kenny McCormick (Character) in the fictional Colorado (Location) town of South Park (Location). The show's outrageous humor made it an instant hit and remains one of Comedy Central's longest-running programs. A number of South Park-related video games were released in the years following its premiere to capitalize off its quick success but South Park (Game), Chef's Luv Shack, and South Park Rally (Game) were all poorly received. This turned Matt Stone and Trey Parker off from licensing any more games based on their show until South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! in 2009.
