Sonic Forces
Sonic has disappeared and Dr. Eggman is finally on the verge of conquering the world with his robot army! Can Sonic's allies, with the help of a mysterious recruit, find the hedgehog and save the world once more?
Overview
Sonic Forces is a 3D sci-fi fantasy platforming video game developed by Sonic Team (Company) and published by Sega (Company) for the Xbox One (Platform), PlayStation 4 (Platform), Nintendo Switch (Platform), and PC (Platform) on November 7, 2017.
The spiritual sequel to Sonic Generations (Game), Sonic Forces is set in a world on the brink of destruction at the hands of Dr. Eggman and other villains from the past (with help from the mysterious Infinite). After Sonic the Hedgehog's inital defeat, his allies form a Resistance (Concept) force in an attempt to free Sonic and liberate the world from Dr. Eggman's army. Along the way, they get help from both the alternate-dimension Sonic (dubbed "Classic Sonic") and a mysterious (and customizable) recruit.
Similar to Sonic Generations, the game features both 2.5D side-scrolling and 3D over-the-shoulder perspectives. Throughout the game, players can play as "Modern" Sonic (who can perform a homing attack and boost using White Wisps), "Classic" Sonic (who can perform the "Drop Dash" ability from Sonic Mania (Game)), and the customizable recruit (who has a wrist-mounted grappling hook and the "Wispon", a one-handed weapon that uses the color-coded powers of Wisps). Additional downloadable content allows players to play through a bonus episode as Shadow the Hedgehog (Character).
Along with Sonic Mania (Game), the game was announced in commemoration of the series's 25th anniversary.
Character Creator Species
The following species have been revealed for Sonic Forces' character creator. Each species comes with their own unique trait:
- <p dir="ltr">Wolf — Automatically draws in rings when near them
- <p dir="ltr">Rabbit — Has longer invincible time after receiving damage
- <p dir="ltr">Cat — Keeps one ring after being hit
- <p dir="ltr">Dog — Restarts with five rings after the player dies
- <p dir="ltr">Bear — Blows away enemies with a homing attack
- <p dir="ltr">Bird — Flies high with double jump abilities
- <p dir="ltr">Hedgehog — Collects rings when getting damaged
