Simone is a boss in the first two routes of Nier: Automata. She attacks in an opera house at the end of the carnival area where she commands the players to look at her while the song "A Beautiful Song" plays and the corpses of machine life-forms she has cannibalized surround her. It is discovered when 9S hacks her in the second route that she became this in an attempt to impress fellow robot Jean-Paul who displays little interest in her or anyone besides himself. Simone's name is a reference to feminist philosopher Simone De Beauvoir who had a real life open marriage with Jean-Paul Sartre (the man who Jean-Paul's name references).
