Overview
SimBin was founded by Henrik Roos, Johan Roos and Ian Bell in June 2003 and started out with around 20 employees. Ian Bell was later bought out by the other shareholders.
The company headquarters was located in Lidköping, Sweden. Over the years the company had locations in Gothenburg, Vara and Falun. SimBin also had a distributor that was located in Stockholm.
They have worked with an exclusive FIA GT Championship licence and have made several FIA GT and GTR games based on the licence that have been well received by the hardcore racing demographic.
In 2007-2008, they got the STCC (Swedish Touring Car Championship) license and released a game based on it in autumn of 2008.
SimBin's first console title was a game called RacePro, released 17th of February 2009 for the Xbox 360.
On the 12th of February 2013 they launched RaceRoom Racing Experience (R3E) on Steam. R3E was launched in a beta state, roughly a month before Steam Early Access was introduced, and is still in development today (albeit with a different developer, Sector3 Studios).
The game is free to download and includes some free content for all players. Additional cars and tracks are sold both through an in-game store and as DLC-packs in the Steam Store.
The company was closed in the summer of 2014 due to bankruptcy.
