Shinobi Legions
The lone Sega Saturn entry in the Shinobi franchise, Shinobi Legions (also known as Shinobi X and Shin Shinobi Den) features digitized graphics and live-action cutscenes filled with ninjas.
Overview
Shinobi Legions, known in Japan as Shin Shinobi Den ("New Shinobi Legend") and in Europe as Shinobi X, is a 2D contemporary-fantasy side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Sega (Company) for the Sega Saturn in Japan on June 30, 1995, with overseas releases months after (of which the North American release was published by Vic Tokai (Company)).
The ninth installment of the Shinobi (Franchise) series, as well as the series' sole Saturn entry, Shinobi Legions features digitized actors, live-action cutscenes, and an arranged soundtrack.
Unlike previous games in the series, the game's story does not involve series protagonist Joe Musashi (Character), instead putting the players as the valiant ninja Sho, who must rescue his master's daughter Aya from the forces of his power-hungry brother Kazuma.
In a similar fashion to Sonic CD (Game), the European version features a completely new soundtrack (this time by noted British composer Richard Jacques (Person)).
