Top Ten Games...ish 2015 Edition

It's somewhat unorthodox this year. Family and illness have thwarted my plans to get any game time in over the Christmas break so i decided that the list should contain a massive elephant in the room... None of them are numbered and 3 of them aren't part of the main list. These are the 3 games that my busy life schedule just couldn't fit in but from the amount I played I know they were top 10 worthy but I just couldn't place them without more time with each.

List items

  • Much like the reboot before it this was excellent fun and I just couldn't put it down until i'd finished it.

  • I was genuinely surprised by how great this played as Metal gear is usually all bonkers story and no substance. This one however was all about the gameplay and is all the better for it. Only a few small niggles kept it from true greatness.

  • I really enjoyed last years Hitman: Go and this improved on the formula whilst keeping it very much it's own thing - Tomb Raidery. The puzzles are fantastic, it looks gorgeous and it had free DLC that added to the mechanics in devious and meaningful ways.

  • I had a great amount of fun with this with my kids over the break, building each other levels and testing our skills. The user created content also ensures that it will be endlessly entertaining for a good while too.

  • "I'm Batman" is basically everything i like in this. I get to be the worlds greatest detective in the second best of the Arkham games.

  • Having never owned a SNES i missed out on a lot of nintendo classics like Super Metroid, which I have now started playing thanks to how great this was at introducing me to these kind of games while still being brilliant in it's own right.

  • I have a soft spot for the Lego games but this one was especially well done and kept surprising me with it's great and genuinely amusing story. Each of the franchises had their own twist on the mechanics of the game which kept me coming back to see what was next. The only thing that lets it down is the huge initial investment involved and the extra needed to get some of the games best content.

  • The likely best game of the year if only I'd played more of it...

    The Witcher 3

  • Highly entertaining but also massive was...

    Fallout 4

  • Then unexpectedly good was...

    Assassins Creed Syndicate
