RESULT: the e3 Pressers

So now that the grand majority of e3 is over, it's time to rank the pressers!

So in order:

List items

  • With a series of excellent games and the extremely promising 3DS being revealed, Nintendo showed the other companies how to do it.

  • Though the first hour and a half consisted of claims of 3D innovation and move demonstration, Sony proved to neighsayers that it still had quite a few tricks up its' sleave for the rest of the year. With surprises like Gabe Newell bringing steam hooks to the PS3, sony showed that their platforms may still have life in them yet.

  • What can I say? "ONE MIRRION TROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS!!!! Wow". Though their showings were rather paltry and the presense of a new XBLA 2D sidescrolling castlevania was the game to watch, Konami managed to keep up the awkward hilarity throughout their entire pressconference, keeping it pointless, but never boring.

  • Rayman, Project Dust, and Mizaguchi showed that Ubisoft still has a lot to show between now and fiscal march. Although it does sing the death song of Beyond Good and Evil 2, Ubisoft did their damnest to ensure that everyone was talking about the games insteady of the pbusiness politics. Although...someone needs to tells these cats that Laser tag is not video games.

  • It was certainly shooterland for EA games, but they still managed to keep things interesting with special appearences from Joe Montana. The retooling of madden seemed interesting (though they never went into a lot of detail), and the fleshing out of the EA sports lineup seemed to be redoubled with MOVE and Kinect efforts for the upcoming year. But with no real suprises, there wasn't much new for EA to offer the community.

  • With their efforts focused on Kinect and wowing people with proformances from circ'de'soule, microsoft had relatively little new to show for themselves. Over all, a seemingly staged example proformance given by engineers were the highlight of the scene, but with the 3 second lag still in toe and no real games being announced for Kinect, M$ was in the exact same place they were before e3, and that doesn't bode well for Q3 and Q4. All of this could have been circumvented by putting more emphesis on XBLA titles rather than big name releases.
