Duke Nukem will usher in a new era of shooters, one that will drive us away from terrible generic brown military/sci-fi shooters with Tom Clancy Plot Generator-quality storylines of today, and into a bold new era of parking bricks in alien toilets and drinking beer with the D-pad. Hail to the king, baby, or blow it out your ass. Balls of steel. Always bet on Duke.

"Anyone else find it shameful that most of the previews from PAX so far don't even recognize that that giant boss on the football field is actually the final boss from Duke Nukem 3D? "

What's more shameful is that the people playing the demo are playing it like any other FPS, hiding behind cover and shit. This isn't Generic Call of Duty Soldier or Generic Gears of War Character, this is Duke Nukem we're talking about! Those babies need to stop pussing around behind a rock because they're scared of bullets and start kicking off heads and shitting down necks.

"i just think the world of gaming has got so much more sophisticated than the lame frat-boy T&A related humour of Duke Nukem. Even the name....ugh.....If this game was just announced today and was a new IP everyone would think it was fucking stupid. The only reason it is news is because the dev cycle has been such a twisted clusterfuck.  The game on its own is boring. "

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, yeah gaming is much more sophisticated nowadays, why would anybody want to play Duke Nukem Forever when there are much more sophisticated and classy games like Halo and Gears of War? Oh wait no, this isn't true at all, gaming is the same as it ever was, only this time gamers have gotten more cynical over the past decade. Always bet on Duke.

Heh, look at all these young'un "hardcore gamers" thinking Duke Nukem isn't relevant. Sorry, children (and man children), but it's finally happening. The perfect video game is finally going to be released. Mankinds has reached its peak. Always bet on Duke.

I wouldn't call myself a "collector", but I do own a lot of older video game consoles and several games for them.  I still have everything from when I was growing up, from the NES onwards, as well as all the current generation stuff, and stuff that has been around longer than I've been alive.  People collect video game stuff for a variety of reasons, but my reason is to play them.  Arguably, I could just play all the older stuff on an emulator or whatever, but beyond just playing the games, I do enjoy tinkering with old electronics.  Nothing like getting a "broken" video game console up and running again, or turning two bad controllers into a good controller.

It's sad to see people stop collecting the stuff, and me buying their collection off of them on the cheap.  You gotta have a love for the hobby a bit beyond just nostalgia.  I enjoy playing games of different genres and from different eras.  I also love the history of video game technology and the way games have changed over the years.  A combination of all of that is why I "collect".   It's not about rarity or value for me.

@Jeust:  People haven't bought Macs for games since the 1980s, and only three people use Linux, so I guess we don't have to worry about a market shift in gaming!

I'd love new PC games, but PC gaming is dead. You can thank horrible DRM and an internet full of teenagers that advocate piracy for that.  Thanks, internet.

I first heard that song from an episode of Beavis & Butt-Head. Heh...

I don't listen to punk much.  I listen to psychobilly quite a bit, though.
