The Surge for me.
I have played some on PC years ago, combat felt nice and dismembering for parts ton of fun but the first boss kicked my ass sour and left me sideways... Uninstalled because i got a huge backlog waiting and lost interest until a PSN sale some months ago, I saw it has HDR on ps4 so double dipped as i like to get the exclusive games / features on my consoles...
Hanged on to that boss, looked strat online and progressed, reached the western DLC from the second area and got some nice augments easing the way and that badass coffin heavy weapon that carried me mostly all the way along with twin fangs up and there for secondary choice.
As much as I loved DS 1, enjoyed Ds 2 and bloodborne, disliked Ds 3 and nioh, of all those the Surge really is the most player friendly giving ways to actually have FUN and building your own personal Warren with favorite set bonus, gear parts, weapons and augments... Loved the "convert energy to health" mod the most along with energy management making it so rewarding in comparison to most games of the genre. You start weak but become a beast by the end with proper augments.
The setting was interesting, environments mehhh... too dull by the end but the Park DLC helped a change, good level design only the last area was way too mazey to my taste, and the abundance of powerful foes like the crystal monsters everywhere was a pain there...
Suprisingly good experience, despite the half a dozen hard crashes I had it was a blast.
Also stuck in my head forever after this... Stumfol - Prisoner!
