As a whole, this game is a deeply rewarding experience, and a true marvel. 0

If I was asked to describe Red Dead Redemption in one word, that word would be "Masterpiece." But, describing a game of this depth with just a single word doesn't do it justice. Red Dead Redemption is a game where all of it's parts mesh together into one, cohesive, meaningful whole, and manages to do it in such a way that very few games ever have, or ever will. One of the many ways that it achieves this is through it's story. Set in the American Old West in 1911, the narrative puts the player in ...

World At War is nothing particularly new, but it retains many good qualities 0

Call of Duty: World At War returns to WW2 as opposed to it's predecessor, to mostly positive results. World At War presents a darker, grittier tone than past games in the series, as well as including a theater of war never used before in a COD game, and a multiplayer mode that is more of the same, and a new Zombie survival mode.World At War kicks off the campaign with you playing as Pvt. Miller, being held captive in a Japanese camp on the island of Makin Atoll, where him and his teammates have ...

Assassin's Creed II is a wonderfully inspired and mostly well-made experience 0

Released in 2009 and developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin’s Creed II is a unique and compelling adventure through renaissance Italy, placing the protagonist at the front lines of history in a way that no game has ever done prior. It expands on the foundation laid down by its predecessor, improving on many different mechanics while remaining faithful to the formula. In this way, Assassin’s Creed II signifies what makes a true sequel, and does it exceptionally well. It certainly has...

Assassin's Creed holds it's own, but it is no marvel. 0

Released in 2007 and developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin's Creed provides a fun adventure that is sure to leave it's mark in the minds of those who partake in it. It is unfortunately marred by a number of faults, but it remains a promising game with quite a few mechanics that work well. The story is about a twenty-something bartender named Desmond Miles who has been kidnapped for unknown reasons by a shady mega-corporation called Abstergo Industries, who have forced him into a machine called...

An average game that is enjoyable enough, but leaves much to be desired. 0

With Mass Effect, developer BioWare has crafted a profound sci-fi universe that leaves quite a bit to the imagination, while simultaneously delivering it's compelling lore in a way that is organic and feels natural. It is unfortunate that the gameplay fails to be as interesting and well designed, and that the story is not as dynamic as it pretends to be. Mass Effect is a collection of elements that either work really well or really poorly, and it seems like it misses it's full potential, while s...

A good experience that is sure to entertain, but it's not without its blights. 0

From a 2014 point of view, how does Halo 3 fare in the mind of this humble gamer? From a so-so Campaign, a deeply entertaining Multiplayer mode, a decent Forge mode, and the ability to save videos of gameplay in Films, Halo 3 is still an enjoyable experience, even by today's standards.Halo 3 picks up near where the previous game ended, and it doesn't take long to get into the game. The tutorial is brief, and you are into the action faster than you can shout "sticky grenade." The story starts wit...
