Lies. Everyone knows that video games are forged in the fires of MOUNT DOOM, using unicorn tears, leprechaun gold and CHILDREN'S DREAMS as materials. They are then shaped by smashing thousands of innocent nyan cats against them, on an anvil made entirely variations of the words "LOL" and "noob" which was chained into servitude by the powers of failure and mounted on captured trolls on loan from 4chan's /b.

One of several depending on the role.

A - If I am a berserk type warrior, I make myself big, rough, dirty and wild looking. I'm the guy that's going to tear out your lungs and strangle you with them, just because it's faster than tying a rope around you.

B - If I am a more knightly type dude, think of the most goody two-shoes but likable Disney character. Go for the "handsome red ranger" type thing. Normal human build, but muscular, with well kept facial hair.

C - For a rogue, I'm smaller, with devilish hair in general (probably long) and generally looks like I'd stab you in the back. Think of it as gentle man devil.

D - If I am a spell caster it depends. I'm either a old, powerful wise magus or a young brash moron with a wand. So I either go Gandalf or harry potter. I'll give you 5 seconds for the obligatory laughs.

OK I'm necroing this forum, because Valve handed out tons of new keys in the last 2 months so it's safe to say a LOT of GiantBombers probably have keys. That and I got probably my most difficult semester in college for a while out of the way, so I actually have time to mentor and stuff.  We absolutely need to get the steam group organized and have such.

Although I will say that since consoles have gone towards the casual audience far more than they cater to we hardcore gamers, the boxart still has an important hold since boxart or word of mouth is what tends to attract the casual audience. Example, Minecraft originally didnt HAVE covert art. That came later.

If another Dark Stalker's game comes out, I'm shelling out 60 bucks for it right then and there, no questions asked. Period. DarkStalkers has given rise to some of the single best fighting games EVER invented, and that's a fact.

Good platforming games and Turn Based RPG's with ACTUAL storyline. Oh and games having more than 8 hours of game play. They used to have 40+ on average.

This is an age old problem with gaming. If a game is "Fun" it means you enjoy it. For example, in Moba's, players are supposed to combat each other in teams of 5 trying to strategically battle for supremacy of the map, eventually destroying the other teams players, towers and base first. This is where the "Fun" of this game comes from it is directed and marketed for a specific kind of player. When someone who can't enjoy this game play tries it, they try to find ways to make it "Fun" for themselves, and often this is entirely detrimental to the game itself on a fundamental level since you give the enemy team an advantage. With FPS's, someone who plays will have "Fun" shooting things. Someone who doesn't have fun shooting things may just try running around knifing enemies or avoiding combat altogether. Someone in a WW2 flight combat game is supposed to enjoy FLYING COMBAT MISSIONS, but they might just fly in circles for fun. What is "Fun" about a game is determined by two factors: What the player thinks is Fun and what the game's goals and methods of achieving those goals are. When player's can't enjoy a game's definition of "Fun" they need to find a new game, but sadly they don't usually do this.

To be blunt, Mr. Op, we are cynical. We look for flaws and reasons to criticize everything. We refuse to be blindly loyal to a game or a company and we hold everyone to super high expectations.

This makes us REALISTS. We are the ones who make games better and keep gaming going. The problem right now, is that there are WAY too many reasons for us to be cynical and WAY too many genuine criticisms in gaming right now. Gaming has hit kind of a rut. While its in it, you can bet the negativity will continue until we get out of the rut.

This is more of a question of the future, when consoles and handhelds will lack a card or cd slot.

Then that's a completely different question, because I'm not too sure that future is a given, at least anytime soon.

If everything was digital then no, there would be no need for "box art" but just smaller art that makes it easier to navigate online stores.

Not really. The answer to both questions is "Yes" it is dead. Hand held games are a minority, always lower in sells and popularity than ANY console or online based game. As for retail games, most people are aware of games through previous, trailers and game play videos. They don't care about the games gnarly box art, they care about the IN GAME graphics and play-ability. All the future (when everything is available for download) will bring is absolute necessity for trailers and game play videos.

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT! I finally figured out a good old completely over used thing to do for a vlog, that I would legitimately like to do. I'm staring "Red Vest Reviews" where I am going to review something; Old movies, new movies, video games, events, youtube videos, random products that catch my fleeting interest, poor choices from celebrities, yahoo news articles, actual news.... pretty much whatever I feel like and putting my completely politically incorrect opinions everywhere! Bwahahahah! Starting soon, will post a youtube link shortly.
