I also like it when an action or action-adventure game does not implement a false sense of urgency (instead of a real one). You could imagine being in an burning elevator thats supposedly going to fall down RIGHT NOW, but you notice that it never actually falls down until right after you step out of it (when the camera takes control from you to show you the elevator dramatically falling down).
I remember a scene in Mirrors Edge where you have jump off a train and have someone yell at you that theres another train coming right at you so you better find a way off those train tracks right now. And by sweet game design wasnt he right; I died because of not reacting instantly to this, which I kind of appreciated.
I wasnt exactly sure what to call this thread, but anyways...
When I play games, there can often be minor details or features I check if the game feature. Like if Im controlling a character with legs, I may check if they behave independently as you position the character on two steps of stairs (I will appreciate the fact that one of the legs will be potitioned slightly above the other and more bent, and not just clipping through the step higher than what the other foot is standing on).
Did any of that make any sense? Do you have something like this you check for in games? Extra options if its a pc game? The ability to go prone in an fps?
I can't find shit about this game anywhere. Seems really strange. Given the extreme lack of information and the developer's other games it's probably a PC release, but who knows? Maybe it doesn't even actually exist.
It was released on the PC, yes. And probably only in northern europe. I bought it cheap from a clothing store (perhaps H&M) many years ago. They used to stock The Sims, and then stocked this for a while afterwards.
While the game didnt exactly have high production values or much depth, it was fast-paced and enjoyable, and featured a lot of great music by ninja tune. The crux of the game was basically these 3 championship events with 3-4 levels or so in each of them.
You picked one of 4 riders, and started the race event either on an atv, snowboard, bike, bungee jumping, hanglider, or just skydiving. You would have to hit checkpoints to fill up a timer (so that you wouldnt cheat the track), and at certain points you would get off whatever you were riding, and start running for the next thing to ride by hammering a key. An important aspect here if you were hanggliding or skydiving, was to land as close to the checkpoint were the bikes or atvs etc were, else you had to run for a while. You could do tricks (for instance button combinations to do tricks while riding the atv, or holding one button to do a grab while in the air with the snowboard. This would give you boost (hello SSX). You could also punch rivals if you were riding a bike etc (hello again SSX ^__^). The bungee rope was basically a short, simplistic minigame where you had to hit a key exactly as you reached bottom, to grab a bar and unhook you from the rope.
If youre still reading here I guess youre interested in reading this, but anyways one of the most fun I had in this game was when I found out that some levels let you avoid hitting the checkpoint that made the rider leave his atv etc, so that you could continue racing down a snow mountain etc with your atv or jump far down mountains where you were supposed to hangglide. It wouldnt let you finish the level if you did this, but it was still pretty fun.
I will probably keep my Wii then for the sole purpose of Gamecube games.
Also, you cant move the save files of any online game. So if you dont feel like starting a fresh super smash bros brawl save on Wii U, you have to play on your old Wii.
Already played and loved the game, but this is another reason for me to buy a ps3.

" Good news, I guess? dont get me wrong i'm fan of anything Oddworld but Strangers Wrath?.. really? Of all the games in the series they just happend to pick the worst of the lot. It's not like the game wasnt unique, with it's blend of FPS'ing, stealth & bounty hunting, but the controlls were cumbersome and the level design really didnt complement the gameplay.(too damn linear basicly) I guess this is their chance to redeem the game but it's big risk i'd rather they didnt take. "
Imo the controls felt amazingly good, and I found the level design to be alright albeit with little alternate routs/secrets. The previous 3d oddworld game, and the 2d games, had much more cumbersome controls (imo).
Was it the level with the empty railway station? Where you have to follow someone? I think after killing the guy, there should be a vent, and then you just have to shoot some glass you stand on, and fall on a train to complete the mission. Anyway there are walkthroughs on the net. See youtube or gamefaqs.
