I was 19, learning machine gunnery on a course for the Army. During a live fire confirmation shoot at the range, I put a whole box through the C9 and then changed the barrel. This is the part I did correctly, the replacement barrel being cool and the one I switched out being very hot.

However not long afterwards, I had to move up to a closer position and then grabbed the barrel on the ground with a bare hand, not even thinking. Just a big, meaty all-around grip as I had to move quickly. My skin was partially fused with the metal and it is the most painful sensation I have ever felt. If it had been my right (shooting) hand there's a strong possibility I would've been booted from the course.

At any rate, I got chewed out by like three different people and was formally disciplined, on top of injuring myself, but managed to make it through with a bandaged hand

In the end I came to one conclusion, say what you believe but try not to get too serious on things or get sucked in.

This is the key, RIGHT HERE, thank you. Thank you for saying this!

Lorca could really go either way at this point. I'm super fascinated to see where he ends up falling on, well, everything (meaning the spore drive, the Federation-Klingon War, and even Discovery's relationship with Starfleet)

I think I like this show!

At around 20$ CAD I would reconsider. Star Trek and Punisher are the only reasons I keep it going right now vs other services

Adding all the monthly subscriptions, multiple versions (PC/PS4), and 2 expansions... I've spent about 900 bucks on Final Fantasy XIV in around four years of play.

Most at one time? Dropped over $120 CAD on pre-ordering the ultimate edition of Battlefield 1.

As for free-to-play, between World of Tanks and World of Warships I think I've spent around $500 in about seven years. Truly free to play, those ones.

The numbers are rough to type out, but it's still way, WAY cheaper than my other hobbies

I hate to say it but it's probably Breath of the Wild, at least so far. Fun game, but there are repetitive issues I see very clearly now. It's the second Zelda game I have almost no interest in returning to - maybe I'll feel different in a year, but so far it feels like another Skyward Sword situation

Also, the game runs like shit on a Wii U - Nintendo's final "fuck you" to those who bought into the failed console

I haven't had many (if any) positive experiences with GAF or its users over the years, but if a ton are coming here anyway I guess they deserve another chance

@horseman6: For what it's worth, I agree 100% about Manveer but I can see this derailing really easily. Probably best to focus on the issue at hand, which is GAF as a site/community which is breaking up hard right now

Star Trek fans? Well i don't know about the reboot fans i guess, but i remember trekkies and trekkers being pretty positive when i was a kid.

Discovery and the JJ Abrams films have shown me (regardless of their actual quality) that just ain't true

There are folks who turn the snobbery ALL THE WAY UP when you discuss these things in any kind of positive way, and these folks are not rare either. Though, that might just be internet effectâ„¢ at work

Anyway, to contribute to the thread, I've never had any serious issues with Warhammer fans. They rag on GW pretty hard but seem pretty decent towards each other
