As a die hard Kingdom Hearts fan, even I can admit this game is just okay. I actually love the moment to moment gameplay, but theres just so many little things that make the game feel by far the most barebones of the kingdom hearts games. Things like no differences between the parties, items & other unlockables are completely superfluous (besides a few songs), etc. The worst offender though is the story. The game just drops you into the tutorial and then on to the map, no explanation & no cutscenes besides the recaps for a very long time. Then of course by the end extremely important shit has happened. I would have taken even just a single cutscene at the beginning to explain what's happening; but as it is now you wouldn't even know there's a story unless you watched the trailer.

This seems to be a pretty common misconception I'm hearing, but limit cut is absolutely not just a rush of reused bosses. It's a concept that goes back to the rerelease of kh2, where they take the 13 organization bosses and give them completely new attack patterns to make them blisteringly hard. So aside from the model being used that's 13 new boss encounters (plus the secret boss which is new including a new model), new bgm for each and every one, and 2 new arenas to fight them in. Not to mention the main re:mind content and a few other additions on top of that. Plus the fights are fucking fantastic, some of the best fights the series has produced. I'm not about to say the dlc is for everyone, some only care about the story in KH, but for those who care about the combat it's absolutely worth the money and obvious that $30 worth of work was put into it. I imagine no one would be batting an eye if they were released seperately with the main scenario at $15, the bosses at $10, and the rest at $5.

@imhungry: while the way it was done was maybe a little unnecessarily complicated, I think clarifying and expanding on the finale was absolutely necessary. People were pissed at the time with how quickly they resolved a lot of the major plot beats and how unclear some things were. I remember being really disappointed with how Lingering Will and Roxas were handled in particular, but to my mind Re:Mind fixed pretty much all the problems I had.

@ultimaxe: no, he saves her it just wasn't explained how.

@mookalhoys: I'm not about to search all of Giant Bomb's content from the past two years, but Ben has definitely made a crack about Kingdom Hearts fans not being able to take a joke.

I have never gotten the "it's for kids" argument. Mario is for kids, Pokemon is for kids, etc etc. Yet for some reason Kingdom Hearts, a series that's always prided itself on a DmC level of precision tight combat controls and hellish difficulty, is the only one that gets shit for it. Even in terms of the anime bullshit, this is the website that has a Dragon Ball podcast so why is one okay and not the other?

@mookalhoys: it didn't fail. It was a joke feature where he didn't pay attention to anything and hated the whole thing. Once that had run its course it ended. There's no world where Giant Bomb would take a KH playthrough seriously though, so there is no need for them to bring it back.

@undeadkink: apparently he has some sort of in perpetuity contract for first refusal rights to voicing the character, and he loves doing it so much he takes every opportunity. It sucks, but nothing they could do even if they wanted to.

That twitter PR ranking must be an intentionally bad list to engender strong feelings and give them that sweet sweet seo. Also sentai is better.

@ulong: I think those prizes are more or less just their "I'm done" vote. I doubt any of them will pull the trigger until at least the story is over and they're just grinding out bananas.
