Is it just me, or is there a lot of unnecessary confusion about Piccolo's history? Jeff has re-iterated it correctly at least 3 times, to which Dan has said "Right, yeah, got it", only to get it completely wrong 5 seconds later.

The "Nameless Namekian" was sent to Earth. He was corrupted and split himself into Kami (good) and King Piccolo (bad).

King Piccolo was killed in the events of Dragon Ball and as his dying act, shot an egg out of his mouth which contained Piccolo Jr.

Ok see, this is where the Piccolo thing loses me.

If the Nameless namekian split himself into Kami and King Piccolo, and Piccolo is basically King Piccolo's "child" then, how is Kami Piccolo's counterpart when they're actually not the same being?

This is just an inconsistency with the show that you have to ignore.

It's not really an inconsistency so much as it's just a bit convoluted. Piccolo Jr. is basically both King Piccolo's son and reincarnation. He was born with King Piccolo's power and some knowledge (or at least instinct) to make him want to kill Goku. Piccolo also matured rapidly so even though Goku was more than 10 years older than Piccolo, they were both physically young adults when they met. It's shown later in the series with Dende that normally Namekians age more gradually like humans.

So yeah, King Piccolo's dying act was to basically put his essence into an egg that he spit out so Piccolo is both his son and reincarnation. He inherited power, knowledge and the connection to Kami from King Piccolo. But because he's a reincarnation and not the original, that allowed him to grow as a person, so although he was born vengeful and murderous, he was able to change over time.

I can’t believe they’re still saying FREETZA

I can't believe several people are still losing their minds over Dan "mispronouncing" the completely made-up, nonsensical* name of a cartoon alien being.

*Nonsensical, aside from being a reference to frisée if we're to keep with the weird vegetable-fetish of this show.

Frieza's name is what it sounds like, a Freezer. Like, his underlings are all food products you would find in a fridge/freezer. Saiyans are Vegetables, I think the Ginyu Force are dairy products, lots of the other underlings are fruits, etc.

And then Bulma's family are all undergarments. Good stuff.

This is easily my favourite thing on Giant Bomb right now. I can't believe I'm listening to Jeff's first experiences with Dragon Ball Z and he likes it. It's also pretty interesting to hear their thoughts given that it's Kai they're watching rather than Z. I wouldn't change my experience growing up with Z for anything but the FUNimation Kai dub is fantastic and definitely one of the best ways to experience DBZ for the first time as an adult.

As others have said it sounds like Jeff would be way more into Ocean Dub/Brian Drummond Vegeta, I like both his and Chris Sabat's versions. I'd really like to watch the Ocean Dub version of Kai if it ever sees the light of day.

FUNimation did something really cool in Super. When "Copy Vegeta" appeared in the dub they brought Drummond in to voice him, and it makes what was a very skippable bit of filler way more enjoyable.

@ajayraz: Oops, guess my brain hasn't adjusted to the new year fully yet. Fixed. Also, thanks! Hope you don't mind me borrowing your list format duder.
