There were! and they were horrifying! I think that level was the first time I died nearly 10x just trying to wade through the waters! My survival instincts are terrible!
"You don't have to stop the arcs. After you kill the few enemies that show up, you are going to need to Zero-G jump up to the asteroid and walk through to the other side, which will be outer space (so you'll be using O2 tanks when needed). There are two other tethers out there that you'll have to take out (and use stasis on them first, as they are spinning super fast). When you get to the other side of this asteroid, there are no spinning arcs, but there are some of the ranged three-tentacle baby enemies out there lookin' to tear you a new one, so watch out for them. Take out the tethers, plant the beacon, and walk back to the other side of the asteroid.
You just have to watch the pattern of the spinning arcs, and whenever you see an open space along the edge of the asteroid, it's safe to jump there and run through. It takes a little bit of time.
